Firstly to say that it is rare and hard to get means people want FoW armour. You shouldnt need anyone to explain this further.

I have Fow armour and I worked hard to get it. I feel rewarded because I have something relatively few ppl have and I sometimes think 'why doesnt everyone want FoW armour?' but I know its because they dont know how they will ever get that much money and therefore decide its just a waste and they have other things to save for. I have encountered a few ppl who are even hostile when they see me standing there, asking why I wasted my money and they think FoW is worst armour in game when some of em are standing there in ringmail..ILMAO...hehe I have everything else I need... all perfect wepons and shields so there isnt anything else I would be better saving for.

At the end of the day you dont really have to know why people want FoW armour, rather than accept they do.

Oh and taking a screenie of your char in FoW armour standing in your guildhall makes a cool avitar for forums

You want those mods on a sword and you can still call people noobs? I'm sorry, you didn't just shoot yourself in the foot, that sentence was more like tanking an aatxe in your underwear in terms of suicide (at least in my view).

You don't want FoW armor, because you don't care about looks. I consider high style to be worth it. You're complaining that I have the armor I like, even though it doesn't physically effect you. What the hell is wrong with you?!

Hmmm, why do people spend their gold/ecto/shards on Fissure armor you ask? The real question we should be asking, is why do people become so concerned with what others choose that doesn't affect them in the least? Heaven forbid that they actually CHOOSE to dye it Black too?

Anyway, In my case it was because I liked the look of it, not because I care whether someone else liked it or not. I prefer Gladiators armor for the energy gain, but did not like the 15k since it was not all dyable. The Fissure gives you the energy and looks mean as hell to boot:

I have 6 chars. I want them to look cool. So far I have my Ranger in 15k druids coz i prefer it to 1.5 but think the female FOW looks hideous.

I want to eventually get FOW for my necro and monk coz i prefer how they look.

I want 1.5k for my ele

I want 15k for my Warrior and mesmer.

That said, I'm waiting until Factions comes out, I'll get them all 1.5k to start with and then see if there are any that look better in Factions; I'm not getting my N/Mo FOW Armours if they both end up with some better looking 1.5 or 15k from Cantha

its a goal people set themselves ... "right i've done all teh missions and quests what next...." " i know i'll save up for FoW/15k armour" it's a time killer..i myself like my FoW and 15 armours.

Well once I racked up x00k gold, what was I supposed to do with it? It doesn't grow interest in storage...

15k armor always looks and feels better then 1.5k armor or armor you get from collectors. Even though I fancy the collector's version of leather It stills gives off a feel of richyness. It's like why spend $1000 on a katana that looks impressive but the edge is grinded on and the stone sharpening mark is painted or grinded on the blade. When you can spend the same amount of cash maybe a bit more for one that can cut through oak like butter with a real edge and was stone sharpen?

Why not though? I play for fun, and part of the fun for me is to "look" good. So, yea, I buy them for fun, no other reason.

For the same reason there are different skins for the exact same weapons.

BTW, why did you spend 1.5K on each piece of armor when you could have gotten the collector's armor cheaper with the same stats?

I'm sort of in a vicious circle...if I already have 1.5k armor on a character, and I for some reason want armor with slightly different stats (e.g. shifting from enchanter's to a set with +15 AL while casting), I feel compelled to buy 15k. :| I just like the looks better, I guess.

I now have 15k aeromancer on the ele, 8k tattoos and 15k saintly on the monk and 15k virtuoso's on the mesmer. For obvious reasons, I will not start calculating how much money I'd have if I had bought Drok's armor instead.

I'll never be able to afford FoW armor, though. Not with the crappy drops I get.

Seriously. Money in Guild Wars is worthless. After playing for a little while you're bound to have mostly all the equipment you want and a storage full of money. What the hell else are you going to spend that money on if not on how your character will look?

Why do you care and why do you think it's a waste? What else should people spend there 100K+ savings on?

It's not a "Waste" of money just because your happy with your 1.5k armor. You see it as a waste of money to get fissure armor/15k but as you can see there are people that feel Sundering and Fortitude Mods are also a waste of money. Just because you don't care about looks it doesnt mean that other people aren't allowed to care. Who cares what someone spends their money on but to call it a waste isn't a fair statement. Congratulations on meeting these so called "Noobs" in Fissure armor/15k, I've met my share of "Noobs" in 1.5k armor also.

Well, I want to get an FOW Armour for my female Necro, the only one I really think looks great.
I have played the through the game with 8 Chars, got all skills, and done most boni and quests. So, since I don't enjoy PvP much I needed a new challange, and decided to try get it befor Factions comes out.
I'm only farming for about 2 weeks for it now, and I allready have nearly half the ectos and stuff for it. So I guess I'm gonna make it.

And it's quite fun, since I'm mostly doing B/Ps in Tombs I meet a lot of nice people on the way.

Oh noes I just wasted 1.2 mil on FOW armor ><...j/k best investment I've made in game so far, I couldn't be more happier

And its always nice to still have a good amount still in the bank

And btw i must agree with the sundering = trash, i'd much rather use zealous and vamp weapons
